There are at least three restaurants currently in the development pipeline for Lathrop in addition to a host of other businesses.
The Lathrop City Council got a development update during it’s first monthly business meeting of 2024 where the council was informed that at least three dining establishments – a Wendy’s, a Chick fil-A, and an Ono Hawaiian barbecue – have all been approved but not yet constructed.
According to the presentation, Lathrop issued 586 residential building permits during 2023 – down from the 972 issued in 2022 and down nearly 50 percent from the 1,122 new permits issued in 2021. While those numbers are lower, they are not necessarily pegged to the number of new homes constructed in the city during the last calendar year since housing permits are valid for two years from the date they are issued according to the California Residential Code.
